Over eighty years of hope, harmony, faith and family.
Over eighty years of what American roots music-titan Marty Stuart calls, “Unbreakable, steady, unmovable, truth.” Over eighty years that have brought accolades and honors for a group that began singing on local radio in 1935, and that went on to play Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Grand Ole Opry. More than eighty unparalleled years with the same patented, instantly identifiable sound for the Chuck Wagon Gang, and momentum continues to build. Some say that’s really no surprise. Today’s Chuck Wagon Gang consists of Shaye Smith, granddaughter of original alto vocalist Anna Gordon Davis, are joined by long-time soprano Melissa Kemper, bass vocalist and guitarist Darrell Morris, tenor Josh Garner, and upright bass player Scotty Owenby. |
Formed in 1964, a new generation of classy vocalists and ministers carry on the tradition of THE INSPIRATIONS. Led by founding tenor vocalist Archie Watkins, today's Inspirations carry an uncanny style akin to their predecessors. The current lineup consists of bass singer Wyatt Austin, baritone and pianist Luke Vaught, lead singer and emcee Roland Kesterson, and tenor Isaac Moore.
Carrying their iconic hits including "Jesus is Coming Soon", "When I Wake Up to Sleep No More", "Touring That City", as well as their most recent radio favorite "Home is Sounding Sweeter", the future of the legendary quartet has never gleamed brighter. |
Formed in 2011, JORDAN'S BRIDGE, although a relatively new name to Christian music, takes their old-time classic quartet stylings across the country with some true seasoned veterans of quartet music. Tenor Phil Barker performed during the decade of the 1980s with groups such as the Singing Americans, Dixie Melody Boys, and Harvesters Quartets. Lead vocalist Dale Shipley carried Perfect Heart to the #1 position on the Singing News charts in 1991 with the iconic standard "Somebody Touched the Lord". Bass Burman Porter performed with the 2002 Singing News Fan Awards Favorite Male Quartet, The Dove Brothers. And baritone Rick Sheets, coming from a musical background in country music, has been promoting gospel concerts across the southeast for decades.
Like the old style of gospel singing found on your favorite LP, Cassette, 8 Track or CD, Jordan's Bridge has successfully captured this iconic style of music once again for its many fans. |

THE PRIMITIVE QUARTET has been traveling and singing gospel music since 1973. Members are Larry Riddle, Reagan Riddle, Norman Wilson, Mike Riddle, Randy Fox, and Jeff Tolbert. The quartet was formed as a result of a fishing trip when a few of the members, Furman, Norman Wilson, Reagan and Larry Riddle, sat around the campfire at night. They realized they had a four-part harmony and that was when they began singing at local churches. Their music is the traditional mountain shape note style singing accompanied by acoustical instruments including the mandolin, banjo, fiddle, guitars and acoustic bass.
In 1981 God blessed the Primitive Quartet with a tract of land in ‘Hominy Valley’ located in Chandler, North Carolina. They name it ‘Hominy Valley Singing Grounds’ and on the week of July 4th, the Primitive Quartet hosts a gospel singing. Today the Primitive Quartet group travels fifty thousand miles a year and does about a hundred fifty dates annually. They count it a privilege to be able to spread the gospel through their songs and their ultimate goal is to lead souls to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. |

More importantly, Jeff shares, "I have asked God to allow us to be the very best that we can be so that He can use this ministry to touch people's lives. He has done that!" The achievements The Whisnants have acquired over the years are a testimony to the blessings God has placed on their ministry and they seek to use them to bring glory to their Lord in every concert.
Jeff and Susan Whisnant are joined by their sons, Ethan and Austin, and lead vocalist Aaron Hise. |
A 24-year veteran of the Singing News Magazine, Danny Jones serves as Vice President of the legendary publication. He has emceed hundreds of concerts across the United States, and has played a major role in the success of numerous concerts such as the Memphis Quartet Show and the Indian Creek Memorial Day Weekend Gospel Sing.
